The Titans have put themselves in a bad position with the place kicker. Randy Bullock was the kicker last year and had an underwhelming season.17 field goals on 20 attempts is 85% and it doesn’t sound that bad, but when you realize most of his misses came within 40-49 yards. Exactly what Craig Aukerman called the “sweet spot” that they were specifically working on in OTAs.
Then it becomes apparent why they let him go. That only left Calbe Shudak an undrafted free agent from 2022 out of Iowa on the roster. So the Titans went out and signed Trey Wolff as an Undrafted Free Agent out of Texas Tech, so far that has worked out nicely.
Wolff went 8-8 at Wednesday’s OTA, and by my count that makes him 16-16. He hasn’t missed an attempt yet. Making him a prime candidate to win a spot on the roster. Caleb Shudak didn’t get an attempt at Wednesday’s OTA. Shudakwent 3-4, missing one field goal from 30-39 range. On Tuesday’s OTA Shudak went 7-8, missing one from about the 53. Which leads to speculation about whether the Titans have picked a favorite already. It is still early in the offseason. I mean training camp hasn’t even started yet, but it is interesting Shudak didn’t get any work in. I haven’t heard any rumors about him being injured so you would think if the Titans were trying to figure out who they wanted as a kicker, then both should be Getting work. Granted just got done with OTAs and mini camp is just around the corner. So there is plenty of time for Shudak to regain some ground he may have lost with the coaches. However, the fact that Shudak basically sat out the rest of OTAs makes you wonder.
