The return of Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard.

Indianapolis Colts linebacker Shaquille Leonard suffered a setback in his return to the football field. Leonard entered concussion protocol after suffering an injury during the joint training camp practices with the Chicago Bears. Leonard worked extremely hard to get back on the field and to endure that type of setback can be frustrating for him.

Since he’s been in concussion protocol, the team did not have a timetable on his status for week 1 vs the defending AFC South champions Jacksonville Jaguars. There were many not me felt the team should move on from him. After the preseason victory vs the Bears, head coach Shane Steichen provided some much needed news that Leonard will return to practice soon.

After being a limited participant in practice, Leonard workload increased making him a full participant in practice. On September 07, 2023, it was announced Leonard has cleared the concussion protocol. Not only was this promising news, but it also made him eligible to play in the season opener vs the Jaguars.

On yesterday, head coach Shane Steichen said he will not rule anyone out for the game. This is great news for team and most importantly for the Maniac. Having him back is a much needed boost for the Colts defense, who missed his energy and play-making abilities. Here is the final injury report:

I began to watch the Colts when former Colts running back Marshall Faulk was the running back and Jim Harbaugh was the starting QB. It wasn’t until 1998 when Peyton Manning was selected with the first overall pick of the 1998 NFL draft, which solidified me as a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. I frequently travel to home games in Indianapolis and away games just so I could support my beloved team. Two of my greatest accomplishments are engaging with Colts fans on a Facebook group I created called “Horseshoe Mob” back in 2018. My other accomplishment is starting a podcast called “You Don’t Know JAC” with Chris Jackson and Austin Cook, which we have now renamed “Horseshoe Mob”. At the time I started the podcast, I had no idea it would start a brotherhood that would last for a lifetime.
