Is this the end of CB Isaiah Rodgers Sr?

Shortly after the NFL announced Colts cornerback Isaiah Rodgers Sr will receive an indefinite suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy, the Indianapolis Colts cut ties from Rodgers Sr. Rodgers Sr wasn’t the only Colts player to receive an indefinite suspension for gambling. It was reported defensive end, Rashod Berry was suspended for violating the gambling policy. He was also released from the team. Rodgers Sr was said to have placed bets in the range of $25-$50, but it was reported he placed a $1,000 prop bet for an over/under on a Colts running back rushing yard totals and won the bet.

Following the release of both players, Colts GM Chris Ballard released a statement:

“We have made the following roster moves as a consequence of the determination that these players violated the league’s gambling policy,” said Colts General Manager Chris Ballard. “The integrity of the game is of the utmost importance. As an organization we will continue to educate our players, coaches, and staff on the policies in place and the significant consequences that may occur with violations.”

Rodgers Sr release was a complete shocker. He was in line for bigger role on the Colts defense, was likely competing for the starting outside cornerback spot after the team elected to trade Stephon Gilmore for a 5th round pick during the offseason. No one knows what the future may hold for Rodgers Sr but questions are being raised on if he’ll get another chance to showcase his talents on another team or did we see the last of him? Only time will tell…

I began to watch the Colts when former Colts running back Marshall Faulk was the running back and Jim Harbaugh was the starting QB. It wasn’t until 1998 when Peyton Manning was selected with the first overall pick of the 1998 NFL draft, which solidified me as a fan of the Indianapolis Colts. I frequently travel to home games in Indianapolis and away games just so I could support my beloved team. Two of my greatest accomplishments are engaging with Colts fans on a Facebook group I created called “Horseshoe Mob” back in 2018. My other accomplishment is starting a podcast called “You Don’t Know JAC” with Chris Jackson and Austin Cook, which we have now renamed “Horseshoe Mob”. At the time I started the podcast, I had no idea it would start a brotherhood that would last for a lifetime.
