Top 5 landing spots for Deandre Hopkins

Rumors from NFL writers & analysts suggest that perennial pro bowler Deandre Hopkins will be cut by the Arizona Cardinals. The Cardinals find themselves in a rebuild, firing Kilff Kingsbury and the new hire of Jonathan Gannon, the Cardinals cannot afford to keep Hopkins contract.

Arizona was asking for a second round draft pick for the wide receiver, but with his hefty contract and lackluster performance as of late, it seems NFL teams are not interested. Being in a strangle hold with Deandre’s large contract, the Cardinals will possibly cut the 5X pro bowler.

Now teams won’t have to give up capital to grab the former All Pro receiver and can maneuver his contract to fit their budgets. Below are 5 landing spots I believe Deandre Hopkins can possibly end up before the season starts.

  1. Kansas City Chiefs

The reigning Super Bowl champions are obviously the front runners to make another title run come 2023. Since Tyreek Hill left the team last season, his shoes have not been filled with a clear number one receiver. With the arrival of Hopkins, the Chiefs offense will automatically boost their fire power. Reigning MVP Patrick Mahomes would add another target, alongside of Travis Kelce.

2. New England Patriots

The New England Patriots lost their best receiver Jakobi Meyer to the Las Vegas Raiders this offseason, and rumors are swirling that the hooded goat Bill Belichick is looking to shop quarterback Mac Jones. That will leave New England with either a rookie quarterback or one that does not know the system of the Patriots. Deandre Hopkins will serve as security blanket for when the new quarterback is in trouble. If Jones isn’t moved this offseason, Deandre could be the receiver he has always wanted and needed. Also Belichick has always respected Deandre Hopkins game.

3. Dallas Cowboys

Dallas has not had a dynamic receiver since Dez Bryant left the team in 2017. Even with the moves of trading for Amari Cooper and draft CeeDee Lamb, no one has filled the shoes of being the X factor the Cowboys have been needed. With the firing of Kellen Moore, Dak Prescott will need a veteran receiver to help in the case of an emergency. the signing of Hopkins would also help Cowboys fans and players be excited for the 2023 season.

4. Buffalo Bills

The last couple of seasons, the Buffalo Bills have always been a bridesmaid but never the bride when it comes to getting to the Super Bowl. Adding Deandre Hopkins would not just give Josh Allen another weapon but take some pressure off of Stefon Diggs and Dawson Knox. This would help the running game get started with second year back James Cook, with teams game planning on shutting down the passing game. Who knows, maybe Hopkins is the piece Josh Allen needs to finally win a Super Bowl and MVP.

5. Tennessee Titans

Last, but not least, the Tennessee Titans! Rumors are swirling around this team, like the tornado that took Dorothy to Oz.

From trading Derrick Henry to trading up to the third pick overall, rumors are everywhere. One of the rumors surrounding the team, quarterback Lamar Jackson could be the new starting quarterback of the 2023 season. Adding Deandre Hopkins would create a three headed monster with Jackson, Henry and Hopkins. The other AFC South teams will be a little frightened to face that monster. Even if Lamar does not end up with the Titans, Deandre would be a nice weapon for either Ryan Tannehill or whoever Tennessee brings in to start the season.

If you believe Deandre Hopkins will end up somewhere else or want to add something I forgot, make sure to leave a comment below! Enjoy the rest of the offseason.

I became a fan of football after discovering a VHS tape of Earl Campbell bulldozering grown men over! With Earl being a player of the Oilers and also the team of my hometown, Houston, I became a fan of the Oilers. Sadly in 1998 they relocated to Tennessee and became the Titans. For a short span I was a fan of players until 2002, the NFL newest expansion team, Houston Texans was formed. I dedicated myself as a Texans fan and have been since. I will always be a fan of Demeco Ryans, Andre Johnson, JJ Watt, Matt Schaub and Jon Simon.
